WWII ARCHIVE: Fascists jailed for conspiring to help enemy

On this day in 1940 two Portsmouth fascists were jailed and another cleared at the Old Bailey.


Marie Ingram, of Marmion Road, Southsea, who had been born in Germany and was married to a sergeant in the RAF, was found guilty of conspiring to assist an enemy by ‘endeavouring to persuade a corporal in the Royal Tank Corps to communicate information useful to an enemy’.


Ingram’s husband was to later claim ‘constructive desertion’, which was reported under the headline: ‘Preferred Führer to husband’.

William Swift, of Copythorn Road, Copnor, was found guilty of attempting to acquire arms and ammunition through the Local Defence Volunteers, or Home Guard, ‘in order to support enemy invaders’, and also of trying to spread disaffection.

They received 10 and 14-year sentences respectively.


Perhaps surprisingly, a third man who was charged, a local leader of the British Union of Fascists and former tram and bus driver Archibald Watts, was found not guilty of any involvement.

Following our last investigation into the behaviour of EDL Youth Football Coach Steve Clarke we received emails from Clarke's wife pointing out that neither herself or her teenage children were responsible for the vile and insidious views posted by her husband. For this reason we decided to make the unprecedented decision to suspend our site temporarily to give Clarke the chance to put his own house  in order and apologise for his behaviour and comments.


Unlike the nasty and evil elements who run groups like the the English Defence League [EDL] and British National Party [BNP] our aim has never been to persecute or harass innocent men, women or children so we chose to give Clark a chance: we would remove the story and replace it with his apology and complete retraction of the comments he had previously made, for the sake of his wife and kids.


We did receive a vague kind of apology cloaked in the "I'm not a racist, some of my best friends are black" irony popular amongst these people. We were going to leave it at that. However, Portsmouth Evening News ran with our initial story and made in their front page story on Friday. What astonished us was Clarke's new claims that the comments he apologised to us for making...were now never made by him!!! He is claiming his account was hacked and he never made the homophobic and racist comments that he has already apologised for making! 


Although he then goes on to admit "I do think that two gay people is wrong. It’s my own feeling." He clearly needs to look up the word "homophobia" in a dictionary. We also emailed Clarke encouraging him to take a Diversity course because his views really are sickening and unacceptable in this day and age.


In the front page story Clarke "strongly denies making the offensive comments about Muslims and homosexuals and says the only explanation he can think of is that his profile on the social networking website was hacked."


However, in the apology he sent Portsmouth Nazi Watch on 9th March he states "I did make comments regarding homosexuals but it was just joking between friends" and "The comment about all muslims should be gagged has been taken seriously out of context." We are unsure, as we provided an unedited screen cap of the comment, how it could be taken out of context. We even stated it was from the Facebook page of Portsmouth EDL.


Clark get's himself into even deeper hot water. Clarke told the The News "he had attended meetings of the English Defence League in Portsmouth after being invited along. But he says he stopped attending after two meetings as he believed there was squabbling within the groups and that he is not a member of the organisation."


Again this is total fiction. Clarke first came to our attention in the run-up to the EDL's demonstration in Portsmouth, in July of last year. He had made posts promoting the event, and had even posted on the wall of an unauthorised "Portsmouth FC EDL" Facebook group stating people should not join this but rather the official Portsmouth EDL group.


It strikes us as a little odd that eight months later he decides to post his comment, on 3rd February 2012, urging that "muzzies [muslims] should be gagged" on the group wall for an organisation he is claiming not to support or be a member of. But his involvement in the far-right group goes back even further than we thought!


It came as little surprise when it surfaced that Clarke was screen capped by our friends at EDLNews actually organising an EDL event himself and promoting it in January of last year!!!

We have also received Screen Caps of Clarke's comments on the social networking site from our friends at Nazis Not Welcome. Clarke 'likes' his friend's comment "burn the ragheads" :

Clark believes "ordinary muslims" should "stay indoors"  and accept the intimidation of EDL thugs, which makes a mockery of his claim that he is "against muslim extremism, not decent

law abiding muslims..."

Clarke then ends his 'apology' by claiming that,
"i DO NOT preach any racist or homophobic ideology to anyone and certainly not children."

This is despite the fact the screen caps, amongst many others we have from Clarke, were all posted by himself, on his own Facebook profile (now deactivated), in full view of every single member of the Under-15s Football team, who were all on his friends list.

So, it all comes as a strange little riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma, as to why Steve Clarke apologised for comments he now claims he never made and denies membership of a group he has actively promoted and involved with for well-over a year. We at Portsmouth Nazi watch believe someone is a lickle liar...

To the editor of Portsmouth Nazi watch:

I did make comments regarding homosexuals but it was just joking

between friends, of course i dont think all gays should be murdered,

we have a gay cousin who is due to be married very shortly, i will be

attending this wedding with my wife. We also have gay friends and i

also work with gay people. I APOLOGISE to those who have been offended

by my comments.

The comment about all muslims should be gagged has been taken

seriously out of context, i am against muslim extremism, not decent

law abiding muslims and this is the reason i attended two EDL

meetings. Some of their views i agreed with and some i didnt, i do not

know anyone on a personal basis from this group and have not attended

any more meetings. I APOLOGISE to any law abiding muslims who have

been offended by these comments. I am not a racist person, i have a

niece of ethnic origin, my best man was an African and i have friends

from many different Nationalities. Everyone who knows me personally

would agree that i am not the person this article has made me out to

be.

I have deleted my Facebook account as this has made me realise that

the internet can be a very nasty and obtrusive place with contexts

taken very seriously and the wrong way by some members of our

community. I would like to state that i DO NOT preach any racist or

homophobic ideology to anyone and certainly not children.

Please Note: Since our previous article was published we have been contacted by Havant & Waterlooville Football Club Ltd who would like us to make it clear that whilst the Under-15s team coached by Clarke plays under the same name it is no way, shape or form connected with the Official HAWKS Club. We are happy to publish this correction and issue an unreserved apology for any confusion caused. A spokesman for the club stated:

"The  gentleman in question is part of Havant and Waterlooville Boys Club set-up which is a completely seperate organisation from the Hawks who operate just three teams. A semi-professional Mens team in the Blue Square South, an U-19 side in the Conference Youth League and a Ladies team.

"We do not wish to be associated with the article which undoubtedly relies heavily on the insinuation that it is the Hawks who employ this moron. The Club runs a successful "Hawks in the Community" scheme which is completely non-discriminatory...My club has been embarrassed by this insinuation that his team is part of my club and would ask that you make clear that the Boys Club is a completely separate organisation who we have no control over whatsoever. They use our name but do not even play in our colours."

Racist Profile Picture Banned

Up to half-a-dozen of Portsmouth's most extreme hard-line racists were suspended from social networking site Facebook this morning after uploading a vile racist slogan to the site as their profile pictures.


The laughably named 'South Coast Infidels', who consider themselves the fascist wing of Portsmouth Division of the English Defence League (EDL), have got themselves into a right old racist tizz after one of their members came a cropper, and to the attention of the Police, whilst spreading their nasty nazi views. 


Our source at Hampshire Constabulary informs us that this (even more) lunatic fringe of the racist EDL have been pushing their luck whilst spreading their bigotry of late and whilst criminal proceedings are in progress we are unable to comment further. 


We can, however, reveal that after discussing this "disgraceful attack" on their freedom to spread race hate, fear and violence by the "leftist government" [sic], leading lights of the group Kessa Nfs Grove (aka Kerry Vince), Chubzy Nfse England (aka Jacob Hyland), Jaco PuntCuncher English (aka Martin Jackson), Amish Dan (aka Daniel Cope), Chris Bright (aka James Reid) and George James all changed their profile picture to the offending one featured above.


Within 12-hours Facebook had not only removed each of their profile pictures but suspended every single one of their accounts on the social networking site, as they were not only in clear violation of the site's terms and conditions but also committing a criminal act in the UK. The proud aryan infidels then had to whimper back, tails between their legs, and promise to be good little members of the master race before being granted access to their accounts.


We hope they have learnt their lesson and will start to behave like more rational, decent and tolerant members of the online site as well as the broader real-life community.

EDL Thugs Plan Attack on Peaceful Occupy Portsmouth Protesters...

Other far-right Groups Muster for Violent Confrontation!

Portsmouth Nazi Watch have become increasingly alarmed by the level of serious threats Portsmouth EDL are making, both publicly and privately, towards local people supporting the peaceful, International 'Occupy' movement.

The non-partisan Occupy movement is an all-inclusive activist group, featuring everybody and anybody; from young mothers to old-aged-pensioners, from students to dustbin men, nuns and vicars to lollypop ladies ... in fact, if you have a maiden Aunt, chances are that she is a member to! It isn't hard to see why it has achieved universal appeal, with its message of improved social justice, accountability and equality, representing "the 99% of the population" who are angered by the mess our society now finds itself in.

Months in preparation, Occupy Portsmouth have been planning to bring an "educational university" to Portsmouth Guildhall Square on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 December. Unlike static camp set-ups elsewhere this will simply be a two-day community event over just one solitary weekend.

You may be wondering what on earth the English Defence League [EDL] are doing bothering themselves with Occupy campaigners, a non-denominational movement. After all, isn't the EDL's objective simply to oppose "islamic extremism" [sic]? In fact the Occupy movement have recently become the focus and target of the EDL, with a staggering 170 EDL members being arrested in London on 11th October after making open threats to attack the OccupyLSX protesters in St Paul's Square.

Despite its repeated claims to be a non-racist, single-issue pressure group, the EDL was founded by ex-members of some of the most insidious and reactionary far-right and neo-fascist groups in the UK; the BNP, Combat 18 and Blood & Honour to name but three. Those who have the unenviable task of monitoring the far-right movement in the UK warned from the start of the true nature and intentions of the EDL and this warning is now being borne out with the EDL openly taking a far-right, white supremacist position. We now see the EDL openly endorse and link with ex-members of the British National Party [BNP] to back the "fluffy fascism" of the newly formed British Freedom Party [BFP].

Famous names that support the international Occupy movement include Britain's leading fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, national treasure Alan Bennett, legendary graphic book author Alan Moore, Radiohead, Massive Attack, Russell Brand, Brad Pitt, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Rage Against The Machine, MC Hammer, Mia Farrow, Anne Hathaway...hardly the hotbed of "red commie scum" the EDL have stuck in the poor, misguided minds.

Old friend of NaziWatch, Pompey EDL's very own baby-faced Nazi, Jacob 'Jake' Hyland (aka Chubzy Nfse Hyland) was so incensed that local people wished to exercise their democratic right to free speech that he got jolly angry indeed, stamped his little jackboot and allegedly "scweamed and scweamed until he was thick".

As the Occupy movement is a broad church of people and political beliefs we are unsure why "red cunts" have to watch their backs but we speculate that perhaps the "red mist" lowered when Jacob realised the people of Portsmouth may wish to organise their own protest, peacefully, without the assistance of the EDL and a load of beer-swilling, violent thugs hurling racist abuse and raising bigoted chanting - as we saw when one of the EDL's national "flagship" demos [LOLZ] hit Portsmouth back in July. Occupy's somewhat more good-natured, community based approach to demonstrating may certainly come as a surprise to genuine local people who had been conned into thinking the nasty EDL way was the only way to express opinion on the streets.

Baby-faced Jake immediately set about creating an event on the Facebook Social networking site, "NO to the portsmouth occupy camp", which he then solely invited his tiny clique of EDL cadres to.

Despite this event being set-up by an active member of the EDL, and boasting a guest list consisting entirely of EDL members, we wonder if he felt a tad foolish, or indeed deceptive, in announcing this was "not an EDL event." This claim may seem somewhat odd, considering it's organiser and guests are all EDL and that both he and fellow local EDL goon Martin 'Jaco English' Jackson feel the need to re-iterate that "EDL colours" (ie the tacky hoodies and cheap, nylon flags emblazoned with EDL slogans) should not be worn.

We do not know of any other organisation, protest or event where people are strictly and repeatedly told to hide and disguise who they are and what they represent. Hardly the "famous EDL" who "Never Surrender" they loudly and proudly slur on their drunken, public jollies?

Stinkbombs, smokebombs, maggots and March for England [MfE]

One tiny detail that our Jake seems so keen to ignore is that Occupy Portsmouth has never actually intended to set-up a "camp" in the Guildhall Square! They have only ever intended to hold a single weekend "educational university".

Occupy have even publicly confirmed this to our Jacob:
"There is NO occupy camp! There is only a weekend University  ... The university is aimed at the whole community and bringing it back together; for example the Shop Locally plan to reduce the amount of importing. We are not 'scum bags' we are hard working members of your community who are fed up of the corruption we are ALL victims of ... The University is an open family event and ALL are welcome as long as it is peaceful ... Occupy is not UAF or SWP or a group of any kind. Its the people standing up and saying no to the corruption. All our meetings are open and anyone could attend. Everyone that attended did so because they support Occupy and the University."

Just in case Jacob missed that yet again in may be worth repeating just one more time:
"There is NO occupy camp! There is only a weekend University."

Word reaches us from some of his fellow "patriots" [sic] that Hyland is now crapping himself after stirring-up his mighty Aryan Army [LOLZ] to battle such an evil terror...that does not, and never has, existed! If it wasn't bad enough that Hyland has egg-on-his-face amongst his tiny peer group of white supremacists they've actual sent out invitations to the wider nationalist movement on the South Coast to come and stamp out the awful Marxist Menace ... of ... erm, some students, some small children and civic-minded local residents meeting to discuss recycling, green energy and locally-sourced fruit'n'veg!

Hyland is right to be bricking it because amongst the dinosaurs of the far-right he has woken from their slumber is "Pompey" Dave Smeeton (from Fareham), the vertically challenged leader of the far-right March For England [MfE]. Like the EDL, MfE are another of those far-right white nationalist groups full of racists who claim not to be racist. "Pompey" Dave Smeeton (from Fareham) has been beavering away of late and was spotted hosting a fundraising event for the racist MfE at the Carisbrook Arms, Gosport on Saturday 10 December.

"Pompey" Dave Smeeton (from Fareham) will be particularly annoyed by young master Hyland, the racist rapscallion, because he had set aside this weekend especially to wine-and-dine his new nationalist love interest, the leader of Southampton FC's EDL Division, Paul Lock. God knows what Lockie will make of it all!

Both "Pompey" Dave Smeeton (from Fareham) and his March for England cronies maintain that they are neither racist or in any way associated with the English Defence League. It may strike you as odd then that he has a number of EDL pages listed on his Facebook Profile:

Of course, listing known racist groups, who you have publicly distanced both yourself and your organisation from, whilst odd is no real proof of involvement or complicit support. After all, isn't March for England's main slogan "Extremists Off Our Streets!"?

MfE's annual event is a march through Brighton. This year's Brighton march saw eight arrests and the involvement of a large and violent EDL contingent.

Perhaps it is time to peruse a photo of "Pompey" Dave Smeeton (from Fareham) seen in a group shot amongst some of the more extreme far-right racists and neo-Nazi leaders in Britain today...

Roberta Moore is the former leader of the Jewish Division of the English Defence League.  She is largely shunned by Jewish Groups around the UK for her extremist views and for courting the support of convicted terrorist Victor Vancier. Vancier is the leader of the Jewish Task Force (JTF) who was imprisoned  for his involvement in 18 bombings in New York and Washington DC. Vancier's organisation is banned in both the United States and Israel.
Moore also has close ties with extremist Rabbi Shifren who claims that 'killing gays is god's law'.
Born in Brazil, Moore claims to have served with both the Israeli Defence Force (IDF) and the British Army. However she has offered no proof of any of these claims so they remain in doubt.
Moore was involved until recently in a very public spat with PA to the English Defence League's Leadership, Hel Gower. Moore was co-chairperson on the Muslim hating English National Alliance and had forged links with terrorists and is becoming more extreme in her rhetoric as time passes.
In conclusion, Roberta Moore, an incredibly puzzled woman is a terrorist endorsing, media obsessed, attention seeking anti-Muslim Islamophobic sell-out, who is marred with fascist and xenophobic qualities, and has aligned with dangerous fringe extremist groups to further a warped agenda.

Kevin Carroll was effectively declared leader by Tommy Robinson (aka Stephen Yaxley Lennon aka Paul Harris) after the Dudley demonstration claiming that Carroll would have final say in decisions. Kevin Carroll is Tommy Robinson's cousin and generally considered to be one of the founding fathers of the EDL. In July 2010 he lost his appeal against his conviction for public order offences at the Luton homecoming parade for the Royal Anglian Regiment. It was the events in Luton in March 2009 that prompted the EDL’s formation.
He insists he is not racist, yet he revealed in a BBC documentary, Young, British and Angry, that he had signed the nomination papers in the 2007 Luton council elections for Robert Sherratt, a BNP candidate and activist in the tiny nazi November 9th Society. Carroll apparently was very keen to stand as a BNP candidate himself but was prevented by his partner’s intervention.

Racist Thugs Sought by Police...

TAKEAWAY staff were assaulted and abused in a ‘disgusting’ racist attack.

A gang of five youths – three boys and two girls – set upon workers and damaged a window at Pompey Nosh in Allaway Avenue, Paulsgrove, Portsmouth. Some were seen to spit into the shop and hurl racist abuse at the staff in the incident, between 10pm and 10.20pm on 23 November.

Now police have released this CCTV image of the suspects and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

PC David Tester said: "The behaviour of this group was really quite disgusting with some members of the group seen to spit through the front door of the shop and racially abuse staff inside. Staff should not have to tolerate this kind of behaviour.

"Police are actively trying to stamp out anti-social behaviour in Portsmouth and need the help of the public to help us identify those involved."

• He and his friends attacked this summer's rioters as "thiefs" whilst taking pre-orders for stolen goods from the very same friends. 

• He spends his days sat in the Library playing naff games on Facebook, plotting the rise of the Aryan Master Race [LOLZ], stealing meat products, cheese and toiletries from shops and getting drunk in the Electric Arms public house, who he represents in both darts teams. As he has been banned from most Portsmouth shops he either has to go to Lidl, Waitrose or Cosham/Waterlooville to do his thieving.

EDL Member gives Seig Heil in Queens Street, Portsmouth 16/07/11

On Saturday 16 July the Nazi EDL invaded Portsmouth for one of their infamous "demonstrations". Five members of the far-right group were arrested and charged.

The EDL claimed this demo was organised to "show respect for our troops". We wonder what  the fallen troops of WWII would make of an EDL "patriot" [sic] showing respect by presenting the Nazi salute withing yards of Portsmouth Dockyard, from where tens of thousands of English men were dispatched to fight the Nazi meance.

We also wonder how drunken yobs hurling racist abuse, bigotted chanting and violent clashes with the Police could be deemed in any way "respectful" to our war dead or British troops today...

This is not an isolated case: Nazi salutes are a common feature of the EDL street movement.
